Urdu Ghazal Poetry with English Translation

uski aaNkohN ki, chamakti roshni, achi lagi  [ I liked (her) bright eyes ] har'f hoNtoN par na aaye, kham'shi, achi lagi [ (I) could not say (a word), and liked silence ] meN chala, to sath mere chal diye, sab raaste [ As I proceeded on paths, they (the paths) came along (w/ me) ] din ki saathi dhoop, shab ki chaaNdni, achi lagi [ sunlight was day's' companion, and I liked the moonlight at night ] bar'f kia pighli, ke behte panioN ka, saaz tha [ as the snow melted, flowing waters became musical instruments ] aabshaaroN ki, khanakti raagni, achi lagi [ I liked the musical tunes (in the flow) of water falls  ] ghamgusaaronN se, na mumkin hosaka, gham ka ilaaj [ those consoling could not cure the pain ] un ke lehjoN meN jhalakti, chaashni, achi lagi [ I liked (however) the sweetness in the (manner of their) talk ] zindagi ki raah meN, gar ho gaye, bojhal qadam [ when I encountered tough times in life ] guftani Mamoon, chahat ki suni, achi lagi [ I heard remarkable tales of love, and liked them ]

اس کی آنکھوں کی چمکتی روشنی اچھی لگی 

حرف ہونٹوں  پر نہ آےء  خامشی اچھی ل گی 

میں چلا  تو ساتھ  میرے  چل دیے سب  راستے 

دن کی ساتھی دھوپ شب کی چاندنی اچھی لگی 

برف کیا پگھلی کہ بہتے پانیوں کا ساز تھا 

آبشاروں  کی  کھنکتی  راگنی  اچھی  لگی 

غمگساروں سے نہ ممکن ہو سکا غم کا علاج 

ان کے لہجوں میں جھلکتی چاشنی اچھی لگی 

زندگی کی راہ میں گر ہوگےء بوجھل قدم 

گفتنی مامون چاہت  کی  سنی  اچھی  لگی
