Kinare Tum Kinare Ham
[ Riverbanks ]
teri meri kahani meN
[ in our story ]
same ki rajdhani meN
[ through time ]
ye kesi dooriaN aayiN?
[ what brought us apart? ]
kahaN, majburiaN laayiN?
[ where did (our) compulsions bring us? ]
pahaaRoN par pighalti bar'f
[ the snow melting on mountain peaks ]
kesi khubsurat thi
[ was such a beautiful sight ]
ye suraj sab ka saNjha th
[ the (warming) sun was common ]
ye dharti sab ka maskan thi
[ the earth (land) was shared abode (too) ]
magar phir, ho gaye barham
[ but then, it got jumbled ]
badalte waqt ke mosam
[ as different seasons (times) came upon us ]
bane ham aashna aise
[ we became such companions ]
zamin-o-aasmaaN jese
[ as the earth and sky ]
kinare tum kinare ham
[ we are (like) two riverbanks ]
faqat, majburiaN baham
[ w/ nothing but compulsions in common ]
hameN chalte hi jana he
[ we have to keep going ]
yuNhi bandhan nibhana he
[ (and) stay (in it) together ]
aik na bhi huye gar ham
[ even if we don't become one ]
ta'aluq to rakheN qa'em
[ we can persevere (with it) ]

[ we ought to keep trudging (along) ]
yuNhi bandhan nibhana he
[ (and) stay together (in this) ]
maqam aise bhi aayeN ge
[ we will pass through such places (along the way) ]
kinare paas aayeN ge
[ where the sides come close together ]
kahiN gehrayi kam hogi
[ at some places, it (river) will be less deep ]
sahal ye sham-e-gham hogi
[ (and) this evening of sorrow will ease a bit ]
ta'alluq ji uthe ga phr
[ rekindling (our) connection ]
bahareN laut aayeN gi
[ (and then) springtimes will return ]
diloN ke sard khanoN meN
[ the cold hearts (will) ]
vafaa'eN kauNd jaeN gi
[ brighten up with fulfillment ]
hameN chalte hi jana he
[ we have to keep going ]
yuNhi bandhan nibhana he
[ and stay together (in this) ]
kinare tum kinare ham
[ we are (like) two riverbanks ]
hamare tum tumhare ham
[ together we go ]
کنارے تم کنارے ہم
تیری میری کہانی میں
سمے کی راجدھانی میں
یہ کیسی دوریاں آئیں ؟
کہاں مجبوریاں لائیں ؟
پہاڑوں پر پگھلتی برف
کیسی خوبصورت تھی
یہ سورج سب کا سانجھا تھا
یہ دھرتی سب کا مسکن تھی
مگر پھر ہو گئے برہم
بدلتے وقت کے موسم
بنے ہم آشنا ایسے
زمین و آسماں جیسے
کنارے تم کنارے ہم
فقط مجبوریاں باہم
ہمیں چلتے ہی جانا ہے
یونہی بندھن نبھانا ہے
ایک نہ بھی ہوئے گر ہم
تعلق تو رکھیں قائم
ہمیں چلتے ہی جانا ہے
یونہی بندھن نبھانا ہے
مقام ایسے بھی آئیں گے
کنارے پاس آئیں گے
کہیں گہرائی کم ہوگی
سہل یہ شام غم ہوگی
تعلق جی اٹھے گا پھر
بہاریں لوٹ آئیں گی
دلوں کے سردخانوں میں
وفائیں کوند جائیں گی
ہمیں چلتے ہی جانا ہے
یونہی بندھن نبھانا ہے
کنارے تم کنارے ہم

سہل یہ شام غم ہوگی
