Urdu Ghazal Poetry with English Translation

ارمان مچلتے رہتے ہیں

arman machalte rehte heN

[ desires (stubbornly) persist ]

ہم روز سنبھلتے رہتے ہیں 

ham roz sambhalte rehte heN

[ (and) so do our balancing acts ]

منزل کے تصور میں کھوئے

manzil ke tasawwur meN khoye

[ with the destination in mind ]

ہم راہ پہ چلتے رہتے ہیں 

ham raah pe, chalte rehte heN

[ we keep traversing (the path) ]

کافور سنہری یادوں کے 

kafoor sunehri yaadoN ke

[ the camphor of golden memories ]

دن رات مہکتے رہتے ہیں 

din raat mehekte rehte heN

[ keeps my days & nights (life) fragrant ]

کچھ لوگ بدلتے ہیں دنیا 

kuch log badalte heN dunya

[ we change the world a bit OR some people adapt the world/surroundings ]

کچھ آپ بدلتے رہتے ہیں 

kuch aap badalte rehte heN

[ and change ourselves a bit also OR some people adapt themselves to world/surroundings ]

باتیں تو پرانی ہوتی ہیں 

bateN to purani hoti heN

[ conversations are (same) old ]

انداز نکھرتے رہتے ہیں 

andaz nikharte rehte heN

[ the mannerisms (however) change all the time ]

خود اپنی انا کے جنگل میں 

khud apni ana ke jangal meN

[ in the jungle of their own egos ]

انسان بھٹکتے رہتے ہیں 

insan bhatakte rehte heN

[ people keep wandering ]

مشکل تو نہیں مجنوں ہونا  

mushkil to nahiN majnoo hona

[ it is not hard to be like majnoo ]

ہاں سنگ برستے رہتے ہیں  

haN sang baraste rehte heN

[ though stones continually get thrown you ]

مامون محبت کے دم سے 

Mamoon, muhabbat ke dam se

[ Mamoon, owing to love ]

پتھر بھی پگھلتے رہتے ہیں 

pathar bhi, pighalte rehte heN

[ we've seen (hard-hearted) stones melt ]

ارمان  مچلتے  رہتے  ہیں
ہم روز سنبھلتے رہتے ہیں

منزل کے تصور میں کھوئے
ہم  راہ  پہ  چلتے  رہتے  ہیں

کافور  سنہری یادوں  کے
دن رات مہکتے رہتے ہیں

کچھ لوگ بدلتے ہیں  دنیا
کچھ آپ بدلتے رہتے ہیں

باتیں تو پرانی ہوتی  ہیں
انداز نکھرتے رہتے ہیں

خود اپنی انا کے جنگل میں
انسان  بھٹکتے رہتے   ہیں

مشکل تو نہیں  مجنوں  ہونا
ہاں سنگ برستے رہتے ہیں

مامون محبت  کے  دم  سے
پتھر بھی پگھلتے رہتے ہیں
